Shot this panoramic a long time ago on my trip to Mount Diablo, but never put it together. Well here it is, the view from just around 1,000 feet up Mount Diablo, out of it’s total elevation of 3,849 feet.

My Flickr pro account is about to expire at the beginning of next month. Luckily, I just happened to stumble upon this post which says that Zooomr is giving away free pro accounts to bloggers. Zooomr is a photo sharing site which is remarkably similar to Flickr, give or take a few features. I love Flickr and would pay for a pro account for another year in a heartbeat, but this Zooomr pro account is free so I thought I would give it a try. If all goes well, maybe I’ll even switch to Zooomr completely. Zooomr 2.0 is launching soon, so hopefully that will introduce some new features to stand up against Flickr.
To get your free Zooomr pro account:
1. Sign up for a Zooomr account.
2. Upload an image or two.
3. Publish a blog post featuring your image hosted on Zooomr.
4. Post a comment on this Zooomr blog post with a link to your blog post featuring the Zooomr hosted image.
5. Wait awhile and enjoy Zooomr pro goodness!

Someone contacted me through Flickr and asked if they could use some of my photos from my trip to the Farallon Islands for a news article! It’s an article for NowPublic.com, which is a user contributed news site that uses stories and footage from non news sources. Sites like these are gaining popularity fast, and I think they have a lot of potential to be the next mass media.

Miniature donkey at the San Francisco Zoo.
One reason I don’t like zoos is because the animals are deprived of their natural way of life and put in captivity on display. Although, zoos are nice because sometimes they nurse injured animals back to health and give them a chance to live when they probably can’t survive in the wild anymore.
This photo, along with We Were Soldiers, will be on display this year at the Alameda County Fair. If you’ll be at the fair, please stop and check them out if you have time, along with some of the other great art pieces.
